i have decided to grow up. i dont want to but i have to. i am going to mature and become an adult. thats what happens junior year. you have to start to become the person you are going to be for the rest of you life. needless to say that is pretty darn scary. "people change." supposedly. but if people were to really change, is that good? even if it is a good change. and can people "completely change"? my parents say that at high school reunions you find that people change. my dad said that his friends havent really changed, just grew up. but is that the same thing as maturing? can you mature yet not grow up? or vise versa? what is the definition of mature? but is that even it? why do we have to mature? it is expected of everyone. that sooner or later a person will become a mature adult. but then everyone talks about your "inner child." why do we still have a inner child if we are to grow up and become mature? does that mean children cant be mature? then why did my teachers tell me i was a "mature young adult"? is that a good thing? should we want to be mature. as far as i can tell, if you become mature you cant ever go back. you cant make stupid mistakes anymore. life is full of stupid mistakes. hindsight is 20-20. does maturity affect that? no you (hopefully) dont make the same mistakes but even as an adult you make stupid mistakes. so maybe i wont mature. ill just grow up.
